RADIOSONDE AND REFRACTIVE INDEX DATA: DATA DERIVED FROM ARTILLERY METRO STATION STUDY. VOLUME 16.

Abstract

Data presented in the report is a compilation of upper air data from the surface to seventy millibars collected in January and February 1965 from twelve temporary rawinsonde stations located in southeastern Arizona in support of a ballistic wind study made by the Atmospheric Sciences Laboratory, US Army Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Twelve Rawin Sets, AN/GMD-1s were deployed. The sites were chosen to provide a complete description of the wind field during cross-mountain and parallel-to-mountain situations. The first wind elevation for any sounding was 4,000 feet msl. The network was more dense in the vicinity of mountains but sufficient AN/GMD-ls were placed in outlying areas to provide adequate coverage. (Author)
