JULY CLIMATE OF SOUTHEAST ASIA.

Abstract

The report deals with the climate of North Vietnam, Republic of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand for July. Essentially based on previously available data, however, precipitation analyses, ceiling/visibility, and upper air flow are new. Contains brief notes on the climate of Southeast Asia and the geographical features of the Republic of Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. Discusses the precipitation, thunderstorms, cloudiness, visibility and obstructions to vision, combined ceiling/visibility, temperature, relative humidity, surface and upper winds, miscellaneous phenomena and sea operations. Contains a station locator and topography map. Isoline analyses (map scale 1:9,000,000) are given for precipitation days, mean, maximum, and minimum precipitation, days with thunderstorm, mean cloudiness, percent frequency of ceiling/visibility = or > 5000/5 and = or > 1000/2 1/2 (7 and 16 LST), daily max and min temperatures and mean relative humidity. For selected stations tabular data on fog days, percent frequency visibility < 1 mile and < 5 miles (7 and 16 LST) are given also. Mean streamline charts (1:37,500,000) are given for 2000 ft. 850 mb, 700 mb, 500 mb, 300 mb, and 200 mb levels. (Author)
