SOLID STATE REACTIONS IN SOLID PROPELLANTS.

Abstract

The use of attenuated total reflectance spectroscopy in the study of solid propellants for the purposes of quality control and the elucidation of solid phase reactions is presented. In a separate study, the detection of CO2 using rapid-scanning optical spectroscopy during the pre-ignition phase of a solid propellant firing is reported and its value as a criterion for ignition discussed.
