PHOTOGRAMMETRY IN ARCTIC EXPLORATIONS,

Abstract

Since an increased interest in the exploitation of arctic resources will create a large demand for maps and numerical terrain information, photogrammetric techniques will undoubtedly be used extensively for mapping arctic regions. Apart from the remarkable accuracy that can be obtained -- spot elevations in the terrain can be determined with an accuracy of the order of 0.01% of the flying height -- the use of photogrammetric methods results in a huge reduction in field work. This article gives a general outline of the photogrammetric measuring technique and its products. (Author)
