STABILIZATION AND INVESTIGATION OF PHOTOCHEMICALLY GENERATED VALENCE TAUTOMERS.

Abstract

The report summarizes the principal results of the research involving the studies of several cyclic polyenes by matrix isolation and flash photolysis techniques. The isolation of unstable intermediates is reported and the results are discussed in terms of possible photochemical pathways. The research summaries are brief and refer the reader to published articles for more complete accounts. Some of the systems studied include 1,3,5-cyclooctatriene, 1,3-cyclohexadiene, 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene, 1,3-cyclopentadiene and 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene. (Author)
