FAMILY DISRUPTION DURING THE MOVING PROCESS.

Abstract

The disruptive influences operating on families during the moving process and while settling into a new community are rarely documented. The study is concerned with discovering the problems and hardships endured by the family of military personnel when relocation is required. Its specific purposes are to develop an objective description of the nature of the hardships endured by families while disengaging from one community and settling into another one; to draw practical implications for use in more effective planning for newcomers; and to provide data that will support policies that are more responsive to the needs of families in this state of transition.
