A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE ATTITUDES OF SOCIOECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED CLIENTS TOWARD TWO TREATMENT MODALITIES.

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation is to study, describe and examine propositions about mental health facility patients' attitudes toward therapeutic intervention by a professional person. It is essentially a comparative analysis of two groups of patients who have been treated by two distinctly different methods of treatment--one referred to as crisis intervention methods and the other referred to as social casework methods--in order to determine whether there is a relationship between common indices of treatment modality and the attitudes of a specific group of patients toward the treatment received. The study focuses on the socioeconomically deprived client, since this segment of our society is more vulnerable to traumatic events and threats from the environment than other classes, but receives less professional treatment than do the others.
