A METHODOLOGY FOR ANALOGIES.

Abstract

A methodology for analogy-making is the main theme of this work. To date, no organized written material exists on the subject. The use of analogies is a natural process; at times help to relate known to unknown experiences. The proposed methodology sets up a logical sequence for the thought process that is to be employed in analogy-making. It provides a critical evaluation for possible analogies, but does not exclude comparisons that converge. The methodology exposes comparisons which contain superficial similarities. A quantitative guide is offered as a tool to the analogy maker to test for convergence (analogy) or divergence of the situations under analysis. (Author)
