DETERMINATION OF THE LOCALIZATION OF ANTIGENS IN F. TULARENSIS BY MEANS OF FERRITIN-LABELED ANTIBODIES,

Abstract

It was established that the Vi-antigen in the virulent strain of the tularemia microbe and the O-antigen in the avirulent strain are located in the external capsule-like coat of the cell. The differences in the localization of the Vi-antigen (along the entire thickness of the capsule-like coat) and the O-antigen (on its surface) the virulent strain and the vaccine strain are shown. The nature and amount of Vi- and O-antigen determinants, determined by the ferritin method, corresponds to the visual pattern of Vi- and O-agglutination in the tularemia microbe. (Author)
