A CONTINUING SYSTEMATIC PROGRAM ON TABLES OF THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS

Abstract

The technical report covers work in a continuing systematic program on the thermophysical properties of materials involving the literature search, acquisition, codification, and organization, and data extraction, compilation, evaluation, correlation, analysis, and synthesis, the preparation of 'intermediate tables' presenting the total available experimental information, and the final preparation of internally consistent tables of 'best data'. The work reported on consists of both data tables projects and scientific documentation efforts. The data tables projects are on the thermal conductivity, specific heat, thermal radiative properties (emittance, reflectance, absorptance, transmittance), thermal diffusivity, and thermal linear and volumetric expansion of elements, ferrous and nonferrous alloys, intermettalic, semiconducting, and nonmetallic compounds, cermets, ceramics, mixtures, composites, systems, polymers, etc., and on the thermal conductivity, specific heat, and viscosity of fluids and fluid mixtures. Property data are presented in both tabular and graphical forms, with accompanying tables giving specifications and characterizations of the test specimens for the data. This report does not contain the completed thousands of data sheets, but does reproduce in the Appendix, the Table of Contents and the Grouping of Materials and List of Figures and Tables for each of the first 7 volumes (which contain over 8000 pages) of the TPRC DATA SERIES to show the scope of their coverage.
