ENDURANCE TESTS ON FLEXIBLE WIRE ROPE FOR AIRCRAFT FLYING CONTROLS

Abstract

The programme of endurance tests on flexible wire rope for aircraft flying controls which were devised to assess the effects of different pulley sizes, cycling speeds, rope tensing and pulley wrap angles has now been completed. The results of all the tests (including those detailed in AD-709 966) are given. In addition a description is given of a new endurance test machine which was developed for routine test work.
