THE VIBRATION OF SHALLOW SHELLS HAVING POINT SUPPORTS.

Abstract

The report presents a method of analyzing a simply supported thin shallow shell with a point support located interior to the boundary. The problem reduces to finding a stress function from which all quantities may be determined. Application of the boundary and continuity conditions gives the sixteen necessary equations for solution. A numerical procedure is presented which involves the inversion of a 16 x 16 matrix. (Author)
