AN ADDITIVE NOISE MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT FOR PRODUCTION LINE USE,

Abstract

It is often desirable to evaluate the additive noise performance of the microwave amplifier of a radar system during the production phase. This report describes equipment that measures the FM noise components from 300 Hz to 3 kHz which have been added to the signal by a pulsed L-band final amplifier. Because of its uncomplicated operating procedure it is suitable for use in a production line. The equipment consists of a basic phase bridge, a low noise video amplifier, and a noise power meter. A method of calibration system is analyzed. The system sensitivity in a 1-Hz bandwidth 1 kHz removed from the carrier is approximately 125 dB below the carrier. (Author)
