EQUIPMENT FOR STRAIGHTENING WELDS OF THIN-WALLED SHELLS,

Abstract

The article describes a process for correcting welds by peening, using a rapid deformation effect for treating welds in small specimen parts in straightening high-strength materials. Due to the short application time of the deforming force in highspeed deformation, the heat which arises in the slip planes of the treated material, resulting from friction, cannot cross over into the surrounding area, thus promoting the plastic deformation process and providing optimal conditions for the metal flow. Also discussed is a specially designed impact device suitable for use in the high-speed process. (Author)
