PREPARATION4 PROPERTIES, AN REACTIONS OF REACTIVE INORGANIC INTERMEDIATES IN THE FORMATION OF NEW MATERIALS.

Abstract

In studies aimed at the generation and stabilization of inorganic diradical intermediates, attempts were made to prepare phosphine-phosphinidenes, R'P:PR3, to serve as 'carriers' of R'P: diradicals. Although the desired compounds were not isolated, evidence for their formation in solution, with subsequent release of R'P:, was obtained in some instances. By controlled reduction of phenylBCL2 with dilithio-2,2'-dipyridyl, the compound phenylB:Dipyridyl was prepared and found to release the phenylB: diradical by simple dissociation. Stabilization of phenylB: diradicals by other bases was also examined. (Author)
