ON THE DESIGN OF P-I-D CONTROLLERS USING OPTIMAL LINEAR REGULATOR THEORY,

Abstract

The purpose of this note is, using a very simple example, to indicate the proper formulation of a class of tracking problems, so that the solution by means of optimal linear regulator theory leads to a proportional-integral-derivative (P-I-D) type of controller. This controller has the property of eliminating steady-state errors and leads to an insensitive design. (Author)
