LOCAL POTENTIAL AND NONLINEAR STABILITY IN MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMICS.

Abstract

In the paper the concept of local potential has been enlarged to stability investigations in hydromagnetics. A variational formulation for the entropy production rate has been given. In this principle convective and dissipative terms appear which property is useful for numerical treatment of stability problems. The results are applied to the Benard problem. (Author)
