PICTORIAL PATTERN RECOGNITION: AUTOMATIC INTERPRETATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF FINGERPRINTS.

Abstract

An approach is presented for automatic interpretation and classification of pictorial patterns in fingerprints which can be adequately characterized by their intensity boundaries. A specific scheme is developed, in detail, for application to single fingerprints, which are particularly suitable patterns in that they can be characterized as line patterns with very rich topological structure and essentially no other morphological features.
