DEVELOPMENT OF AVIATION CLASSIFICATION TEST FORMS 5 AND 6.

Abstract

Two new forms of a test to replace the aviation classification test are presented. These are known as Forms 5 and 6 of the aviation qualification test. Multiple-regression weights that would cause the types of items included in these new forms to predict with maximum accuracy performance in a Navy preflight school were computed, and from these data, the outline of Forms 5 and 6 was constructed. Items were then selected in such a way as to cause the new forms to be parallel, to differentiate among applicants efficiently over a wide range of ability, and to yield single raw scores that would correlate as high as possible with grades in the preflight school.
