AN ANALYSIS OF THE VIBRATION ENVIRONMENT AT NORTHROP'S NORWOOD, MASS. TEST FACILITY WITH APPLICATION TO GYRO TESTING.
Abstract
This report describes seismic measurements taken at Northrop's inertial test facility, Norwood, Massachusetts under the joint auspices of AFCRL, NASA-ERC, and Northrop Corporation. The purpose of these measurements and subsequent analyses is to characterize the motion environment of the test facility in terms relevant to facility design and guidance-component performance tests. Observations of regional and facility environmental motions are described in terms of second-order statistics that serve as a basis for optimum prediction operators. Approaches are recommended for testing gyro sensitivity to the seismic environment, and for use in gyro performance tests for determination and removal of induced error terms. (Author)
