GUNSHIP II. AC ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AC-130A FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM.
Abstract
The critical requirement for electrical power in the AC-130A Fire Control System is a single phase, 115 volt, 400 hertz line. The most sensitive requirement on this line is the generation of the 26 volt reference signal; the aircraft AC system is an unacceptable source for this reference voltage line. A separate inverter can be used to supply the reference voltage line if all DC power supplies within the equipment are removed from the reference voltage line; however, the inverter must be carefully selected. (Bendix Model 32E-03-3-C inverter appears to be acceptable). The separate inverter for the reference voltage line proved successful on Surprise Package aircraft (A/C 490) and on standard Gunship aircraft (A/C 129). (Author)
