THERMAL BALANCE OF POWER CONVERTERS FOR ION PROPELLED SPACECRAFT.

Abstract

This Report describes heat balance experiments designed to investigate the thermal condition of a dc to dc power converter under a simulated space environment. An outline of the design of the heat radiator is given together with a description of the method of measuring the thermal performance of the converter. The experiment shows that converters will have comparable efficiencies when in orbit to those achieved while operating in the laboratory. (Author)
