MODELS FOR MAGNETOFLUID DYNAMICS OF THE SUN.

Abstract

The report summarizes a number of theoretical models developed for: (a) Baroclinic and Rossby waves in magnetic fields, and Rossby wave dynamos; (b) Interaction of thermal convection with rotation and shear flow; (c) Magnetic buoyancy instabilities. These models elucidate mechanisms for the maintenance of solar differential rotation and large-scale magnetic fields. (Author)
