MATERIAL MODELS FOR SOILS,

Abstract

Various material models of soils for use in ground shock computations are studied. The theoretical basis for models currently being used is examined in order to determine their suitability and range of validity. A new model is developed which predicts observed laboratory and field behavior better than any model advanced previously, while at the same time satisfying the most restrictive requirements of classical plasticity theory.
