MAXIMIZING DIFFERENCES IN VOCATIONAL INTEREST PATTERNS OF OCCUPATIONAL GROUPS BY VARYING METHODS OF SCORING.

Abstract

The use of a vocational interest inventory by the military establishment, or by most schools and guidance centers, is seriously limited by the excessive time and labor required in scoring such an instrument. Is it possible to devise scoring methods which will reduce the amount of labor without appreciably reducing the meaning and value of the pattern of vocational interests obtained. The present report examines this problem empirically, using a sample of civilian electricians, and a sample of tradesmen-in-general from seven different occupations. (Author)
