A PROVISIONAL MODEL OF VISUAL INFORMATION PROCESSING WITH SEQUENTIAL INPUTS.

Abstract

A provisional model of visual information processing with sequential inputs is proposed based on results obtained with a computer-based CRT display system. Major data processing components of the model are identified and 'real-time input processing values' are associated with these components. Processing rules and mechanisms of the data processing components are suggested based on 'lateral inhibition' and 'receptive field' concepts and are utilized to explain certain of the 'sequential blanking and displacement' phenomena that were examined.
