CUTANEOUS COMMUNICATIONS.

Abstract

Cutaneous communications is a new method of communications which could meet certain needs of the Army which are not satisfactorily met by other forms of communications. Previous methods of communication have depended on the aural or visual senses. These methods are not always appropriate. Under some conditions the cutaneous method can be used to strengthen or enhance present forms of communication or can be used as a channel on its own merit. The report describes the experiments conducted during a program of study designed to test the feasibility of this form of communication and to investigate methods by which this communication could be achieved most effectively with minimum power requirements.
