AN INFORMATION FEEDBACK APPROACH APPLIED TO POLARIZATION-MODULATED LASER COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The use of an information feedback procedure, called 'Feedback Averaging' is applied to an M-ary Polarization Modulated Laser Communication System. The systems with and without feedback, that are limited by photon fluctuation, are considered and compared. A significant improvement in error rate of a system with feedback is demonstrated over a one-way system for a quaternary system subject to intensity constraint. (Author)
