EVALUATION OF SIMPLE BONE CYSTS OF THE MANDIBLE.

Abstract

The simple bone cyst of the mandible is probably much more common than it was previously thought to be. It is being seen with more frequency due to the recent advances in radiodontics. A single case report of a large simple bone cyst occurring in a 38-year-old Caucasian male is reported in detail. An additional twenty-one instances of simple bone cyst of the mandible are reported indicating the clinical, radiographic and histopathological presentations. The entity cannot be diagnosed with any certainty prior to exploration. Surgical exploration is curative and the recommended treatment. (Author)
