THE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A PROCEDURE FOR ESTIMATING THE ECONOMIC LIFE OF WEAPONS SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to develop and apply a procedure for estimating the economic life of any weapon system. Two procedures are suggested. One follows the depreciation Guidelines of the US Treasury, one is based on an economic model, cost minimization (with replacement). Of the two, only the latter is fully developed and applied using existing Army data in the report.
