INVERSE POPULATING OF ARGON LEVELS IN A SUPERSONIC PLASMA JET,

Abstract

The supersonic Ar plasma jet was cooled by rapid expansion into vacuum. The inverse population of Ar levels and negative absorption coefficient were found spectrographically. This reveals the possibility of making a gas-dynamic laser. (Author)
