UNITED STATES COAST GUARD OCEANOGRAPHIC SENSOR STUDY. VOLUME I. STATE-OF-THE-ART OF OCEANOGRAPHIC AND METEOROLOGICAL SENSORS, TUTORIAL DISCUSSION.

Abstract

Task 1, in two volumes, evaluates the state-of-the-art of oceanographic and meteorological sensors. Instruments for the measurement of a number of oceanographic parameters from different platforms are evaluated with respect to the operational requirements laid down by the United States Coast Guard. Conclusions are drawn relevent to these requirements -- i.e., what measurements with specified accuracies can be accomplished from specific platforms, what may be accomplished during the next 5 years, and what is beyond the 5-year state-of-the-art.
