IDLE TIME IN A PARALLEL CHANNEL QUEUE,

Abstract

The idle time ratio of a queueing system is a measure of the efficiency of the system. In trying to improve the operations of a queueing system, the question naturally arises as to the possibility that one can decrease the idle time simply by judiciously choosing a state dependent arrival discipline. A negative answer is given to this question for a simple queue. (Author)
