AN INVESTIGATION OF RELIABLE, HIGH CURRENT FLUX PUMPS.

Abstract

The document reports on a superconducting flux pump which was constructed and tested. The device consists of a small superconducting coil in parallel with a larger magnet, attached to the secondary of a transformer and immersed in a liquid helium bath. The flux pump has energized the magnet to the 20 ampere level, using a very simple power input. Experiments to increase the pumping speed and current levels are described. (Author)
