SCINTILLATION EFFECTS IN SUPERFLUID HELIUM.

Abstract

The program of research with which this report is concerned is an outgrowth of the discovery several years ago that the scintillation of He 2, produced by charged particles, is influenced markedly by the superfluid properties of the liquid. During the ensuing period the program has involved continued experimental studies of the anomalous He 2 scintillation process, the achievement of an understanding of the effect, and study of some unexpected phenomena which have been discovered relating to heat transport in He 2.
