A NEW ITERATIVE SCHEME FOR THE SOLUTION OF PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS.

Abstract

A new iterative scheme for the solution of partial differential equations based on the principle of least squares is presented. The accuracy of a generated one term solution and its first derivatives is discussed using the Dirichlet problem for a rectangular domain (Torsion problem). It is found that the obtained approximation agrees closely with the exact solution, that the convergence of the iterative process is very rapid, and that the final form of the generated approximation does not depend upon the initial choice.
