THICKENING CAPACITY OF SILICA GEL IN PLASTIC LUBRICANTS,

Abstract

The authors studied the influence of moisture, chemically and physically bound by silica gel, on (the) thickening capacity of the gel and on the stability of silica gel (Si) lubricants. The lubricants were prepared on silica gel specimens, etherified by butanol and heat treated. Heating of the silica gel was required since Si lubricants on heat-resistant dispersion media are often used at temperatures of 250-350C. (Author)
