THEORETICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR DESCRIBING THE STATE OF SKY THROUGH AUTOMATIC TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

The report describes a computer model for the simulation of optical and radar ceilometers. The model has two components, a statistical cloud model that describes a sky composed of multiple layers of random clouds, and an instrument model that permits the calculation of the responses of ceilometers. The digital computer program based on this model is described, and program flowcharts, listings, and sample printout are given. (Author)
