ACCURATE AERIAL DELIVERY SYSTEM.

Abstract

The Coast Guard, as part of their sea rescue mission, are frequently required to aid distressed boats by dropping from an airplane a package containing emergency pumping equipment. Due to the precision required, plus the usual situation of unsettled weather conditions, delivery failures are fairly common. A study was performed of delivery concepts, equipment, and techniques to determine if equipment and procedural changes could be devised that would significantly improve delivery success. The report describes the equipment and delivery techniques that are recommended for this delivery system. (Author)
