A NEW METHOD OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL SCALING.

Abstract

The paper is based on a particular multidimensional scaling technique. The first part describes the objectives and introduces goodness of fit measure, called stress; the second part discusses some problems associated with technique, focusing on the concept of stress; in the third part, an alternative goodness of fit measure, is proposed, together with a different procedure for doing multidimensional scaling. Part three also includes a discussion of superiorities of goodness of fit measures. (Author)
