DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR STRESSES IN ECCENTRIC STEPWISE DISCONTINUOUS RINGS WITH TRANSITION SECTION,

Abstract

A computer program is presented which gives the stress distribution in a ring of nonuniform cross section under the action of a uniform radial line load. The analysis on which the program is based is an approximation to the analysis of an exact interaction problem of a reinforced circular cylindrical shell under hydrostatic pressure. The ring is composed of three segments; one segment whose cross sectional area varies according to a power function connects two uniform segments. The computer program is written for a General Electric 605 Time Sharing computer. A complete listing of the program including full documentation is presented. In addition, a typical computer run is included. (Author)
