Abstract
New carborane-transition metal pi-complexes involving the nido-C2B4H6(2-) and cyclo-C2B3H7(2-) ligands have been synthesized from iron pentacarbonyl and 2,3-dicarba-closo-hexaborane(8) in a heated tube, and the structures have been assigned on the basis of boron-11 and proton nmr spectra, as well as infrared and mass spectroscopic evidence.
