RADIATIVE EMISSION FROM N-S POINT CONTACTS.

Abstract

The purpose of the contract is to study the mechanism for radiative emission from N-S point contacts previously reported by the principal investigators. During the first three months of operation the authors have succeeded in transmitting the radiation from the N-S contacts out of the cryostat vessel and into the room temperature environment using microwave techniques, begun studies of the effects of tip geometry on the observed radiation, established that a 'weak link' model best fits the IV characteristics of the junctions under study, and obtained additional evidence for threshold behaviour using box integrator signal sampling techniques.
