DISCRETIZATION METHODS FOR DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS.

Abstract

The report summarizes the research under the Contract. The main emphasis was on stability regions of discretization methods for ordinary differential equations. Results were also obtained in the following areas: Stability and monotonicity properties of discretizations of two-point boundary value problems; Systematic Richardson extrapolation applied to the solution of stiff systems of differential equations; Methods of characteristics for hyperbolic differential equations; and, Nonlinear instability phenomena.
