LUBRICATING AND SIZING AGENT FOR GLASS FIBER,

Abstract

Discussed is a lubricating and sizing agent for glass fibers consisting of poly(vinyl alcohol), sucrose, metal salts, and water. To improve the physicomechanical properties of the glass fiber and of goods manufactured from it, Ti lactate is used as the metal salt. The following composition is recommended: poly(vinyl alcohol) 1.25 to 1.5, sucrose 0.5 to 0.6, Ti lactate 3.5 to 4.0, and water to 100 percent.
