WRITEUP FOR B34TCNA A STEP-WISE MULTIPLE REGRESSION PROGRAM,
Abstract
The report is intended as a day-to-day guide to the use of B34TCNA. It tells how to punch control cards and implement the options available in the program. There is also a Manual available which describes the workings of the Chicago version of the program and its options. The Manual should be consulted before using any of the more exotic options as they are not all standardized. The program calculates multiple linear regression in a stepwise manner, inserting at each step that variable which is eligible and has the highest partial correlation with the dependent variable, given that the previously selected variables are in the equation.
