MECHANISM OF THE ANTIOXIDATIVE EFFECT OF THE 2,4,6-TRI-TERT-BUTYLPHENYL ESTER OF PYROCATECHINPHOSPHOROUS ACID,

Abstract

It was found that 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl pyrocatechin phosphite at 200 degrees is an antioxidant of medium strength. It participates directly in termination of the chain and also increases the probability of degenerated branching of the chain. As a hydroperoxide reducing agent, 2, 4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl pyrocatechin phosphite is considerably weaker than dilauryl dithiopropionate, usually used for this purpose. (Author)
