A RADIO-METEOROLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF FADING AT 2 GHz IN THE MEKONG DELTA.

Abstract

Intensive radio and meteorological measurements were conducted on two links of the Integrated Communication System in the Mekong Delta of South Viet Nam during January, February, and March 1970. This study investigated the possible causes of severe fading on these beyond-the-horizon links, with the objective of determining corrective action for existing paths in the Delta and improved design considerations for future systems. Measurement results indicated that subrefractive conditions were substantially more prevalent than had been expected on the basis of meteorological data obtained from Saigon. (Author)
