DESCRIPTION OF A NOZZLE TEST FACILITY.

Abstract

The mechanical properties of a facility designed to study the characteristics of hybrid nozzles are described. Castigliano's method is used to analyze the deflection and load relationship of the rigid but elastic system. Experiments substantiate the analysis and confirm the capability for measuring nozzle thrust with a high degree of precision. The second part of the report describes tests with a family of axisymmetric nozzles. Also included is a detailed statement of calibration and testing procedures and an assessment of the total system accuracy. (Author)
