SOLAR RADIOASTRONOMY INSTRUMENTAL PROGRESSES AND RESEARCHES, 1969-1970.

Abstract

Observations of the solar radio flux density were undertaken in March 1966 and pursued in the following years with the aim of studying the radio outbursts correlated with chromospheric flares. A ten-meter parabolic reflector has been planned and constructed for the ovservations of flux density and polarization in ten frequency bands between 200 and 1000 Mc/sec. The work done until Feb. 28 1969 is related to the measures at the single frequency of 239 Mc/sec, in one polarization only, but with low and high resolution recording devices. The authors have pointed out the usefulness of the high resolution techniques for the studies of the microstructures of the radio outbursts which present, sometimes, a very interesting periodic fluctuation, stationary over limited time intervals. The studies on this subject is still in progress, and will be usefully integrated by the polarization measurements, when the polarimetric radiometers are completed. (Author)
